Accidents Reported Across Busy Weekend Traffic
During the heavy pre Independence Day weekend, several accidents occurred outside cities in the Seymour post area. A fatal four car crash Sunday afternoon near Mooresville resulted in a June tally of five highway fatalities, while a man drowned near Martinsville. Early Sunday a 1952 Army truck hit a 1958 sedan on U S 50 west of Seymour, causing damage to both vehicles. Another eastbound 1958 convertible left the road on U S 50 near Brownstown, injuring its driver.

Pennsy Freight Train Jumps Tracks Near Scottsburg
A northbound LC-11 freight on the Pennsylvania Railroad left the rails on the south edge of Scottsburg early today. Nine cars derailed with no injuries. Rail traffic was diverted over other lines until tracks were repaired. a loose wheel on a freight car caused the incident, ripping up about 1,500 feet of track. The Kentuckian was rerouted via the Baltimore and Ohio line, and the Southwind was expected to pass Seymour at 2:45 p.m.

Austin Youth Wounded by Accidental Gunshot at Home
A 15 year old Austin youth suffered an accidental gunshot to the stomach when a .38 caliber pistol discharged while being taken from a dresser drawer. He was found on the lawn near the Coombs home around 11 45 p m and is listed in fair condition at Schneck Memorial Hospital. Eight Treated At Hospital for Weekend Injuries
A Seymour man and seven children were treated at Schneck Memorial Hospital weekend for minor injuries from separate accidents.
