Hung Jury Declared in Jones Murder Trial in Bedford
A mistrial by hung jury was declared in the Robert Paul Jones murder trial in Lawrence Circuit Court Bedford. Jones a 32 year old Columbus sanitation worker faced three counts of first degree murder in the Nov 9 shootings. Jurors struggled to agree on degree of guilt or penalty despite two psychiatrists testifying to insanity and three to sanity. The judge scheduled a hearing for Friday to determine next steps.

Dr. Conrad Galloway of Seymour Community Schools is elected president elect of the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents. He has served as vice president this year and on July 1, 1977 he'll become president, with on the job training and expanded duties in statewide meetings. Minor Damage From Two Weekend Auto Mishaps
City police reported two traffic incidents over the weekend with only minor damage and no injuries. Robert D. Phillips, 37, of 306 North Park Drive, hit a parked car owned by Gordon Clark, 314 South Chestnut Street, in the 300 block of South Chestnut Street on Saturday at 6 45 AM. Phillips suffered about 375 dollars in damage to his 1972 two door sedan, while Clark's 1972 sedan sustained about 300 dollars in damage. Officer Terry E. Graham filed the investigation.

Conservationist Bruce Hardy Named Indiana's Conservationist of the Year
Bruce F. Hardy of Lexington is honored as Indiana conservationist of the year by the Hoosier Buffalo Riders for leading the Stucker Fork Conservancy District in Scott County since 1963.
