Funeral services conducted in Seymour for three of four victims of a head on collision on U S Road 31 north of Henryville. Gus Dunker Emma Kilgas Dunker and Hilda Dunker Smith were buried in Lutheran Cemetery with hundreds attending. The fourth victim Walter Wilkey died later at St Edward s Hospital in New Albany. City Court Weekend roundup fines and sentences
Mayor Herwig’s court processed numerous cases over the weekend. Robert Kirby pleaded guilty to public intoxication and received 50 dollars plus costs and 90 days at the state penal farm. Marshal Robbins was fined 50 dollars for trespassing. Others faced fines for speeding, intoxication, assault, and parking with one case moved to Jackson Circuit Court.

Redeemer Lutheran Church held a Picnic Sunday at Trimpe s near Seymour after morning services. About 200 attended an open air service followed by a family dinner. Teachers led children s games and a baseball game pitted married men against single men, which the married side won.

Two Persons Hurt in Columbus Street Crash
A Columbus couple sustained injuries in a late Sunday collision at Tipton Street and Broadway. Levi E. Shipley, 33, suffered facial injuries including a crushed nose and a sprained left ankle, while his wife Pearle, 25, had bruises to the right hip and left leg. The motorcycle they rode collided with a 1935 sedan driven south on Broadway, and the automobile driver fired.

William L Malloy 66 of Brownstown died early Sunday after a four year illness. He lived in the community 27 years and was a former miller at Ewing Mill Company. Born November 9 1881 in Castle Rock Minnesota he was married to Maude Edwards on March 14 1903 in Salem. Surviving are his widow five sons a daughter a brother 19 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral Tuesday at 2 from Zabel Funeral Home with Rev Pedicord and burial in Fairview Cemetery Brownstown.

Manager Joseph Shipley leads the staff previously at West Second Street. The store features a large parking area, fluorescent lighting, marble walls, a bakery dairy poultry meat fish and produce departments, and a 36 foot bread and cake display case.

Mrs. Bernetta Scott 74 lifelong Jackson county resident died Saturday at her daughter s home in Seymour after illness since August 1947. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Voss Mortuary with Rev George L Florence officiating. Burial followed at Clearspring Cemetery. Provincetown reports a 17 year old lobster fisherman Frank E Cabral Jr claimed he rode a 60 foot whale after being thrown from his dory off Race Point. He said the mammal surfaced underwater then surfaced again and he rode it for about 20 knots before diving off as it sounded.
