Three Fined in City Court for Intoxication
Three men pleaded guilty to public intoxication in city court before Mayor Stanley A. Switzer. Chester Vaughn of Campbellsburg Kentucky Morris G. James of Georgetown Indiana and Ulysses Streeval of Edinburg were arrested by city police on East Tipton and East Second streets. Each was fined $1 with costs totaling $11.

Seymour stores to stay open Friday night before Independence Day
The Seymour Retail district will keep stores open Friday night July 3 for shoppers, then close Saturday July 4 for the Independence Day holiday. The plan was announced by William Topie, secretary of the Seymour Business Men's Association, after a board meeting.

Cool Weather Lowers Attendance at Seymour Pool
Cool, rainy weather has reduced swim attendance at the Seymour Municipal swimming pool. In the first eighteen days the pool hosted 4,472 bathers, averaging 248 daily, with 436 on June 21 and 429 on June 10. Lifeguards Martha Bunch and Marilyn Sweazy aided by Elizabeth Schmitt as relief. Bunch was in Indianapolis earning a swimming instructor’s license and would return to resume life-saving classes.

Mrs Belle Lett Dies In Texas At 95
Mrs Belle Lett, age ninety five, of Houston Texas, died Friday night at her niece’s home in Houston. Funeral services are set for 2:30 Monday afternoon at Voss Mortuary with burial at Riverview Cemetery. The body will be returned to Seymour for 6:40 Sunday night arrival. Lett, born in Seymour in May 1847, was educated here and taught school before marriage to B C Lett who preceded her. she left Seymour in 1928 and lived in Texas thereafter. She was a Methodist and died after several years illness.

Mrs. William Hancock formerly of Seymour died Friday night at Edna Kansas. The body will be returned for burial with funeral services in Edna Sunday. The survivor list includes sister L F Miller and siblings Fred Miller Ed Miller Mrs Katie Borcherding and Mrs Frank Heideman all of Seymour.
