Zoning Appeals Board Sets Busy Agenda in Seymour

Seymour board of zoning appeals will hold a busy regular meeting Tuesday with seven variance requests on the docket. Walter Findley and Sons plans an office building and pole barn west of the Pennsylvania Railroad in Rockford, while Findley Lumber seeks a saw mill with air pollution control. Additional requests span remodeling at George's of Seymour Inc. on Second and Broadway, a residence to office conversion at 401 Indianapolis Avenue, an off street parking waiver for an electric motor shop at 208 North Elm, moving an ice vending machine at 402 South Walnut, and a rear yard waiver for a new building at 318 West Tipton.

Two Preparedness Tests At Airport Over Weekend

Unrelated emergency facility drills were conducted by the Seymour Amateur Radio Club and Civil Air Patrol units at Bloomington and Camp Atterbury over the weekend. The CAP carried out a simulated search and rescue mission at Freeman Field amid storm and tornado scenarios while radio operators tested emergency communications networks and power/aerial setups.

Fire Nightmare Hits Claypool Hotel During Eagles Convention

A fourth floor blaze at the Claypool Hotel in Indianapolis sent ten people to area hospitals and interrupted an Eagles convention. Dyer of Seymour and other local attendees recounted escaping amid dense smoke and hall water as alarms rang and flames erupted on Room 460’s vicinity.

Summit Ends In Stalemate At Glassboro Talks

President Johnson and Premier Kosygin ended their two day Glassboro summit with no agreements on Vietnam or the Middle East. They pledged to stay in direct contact to discuss these disputes and reduce the risk of nuclear confrontation. Kosygin returned to New York for UN remarks while Johnson resumed duties in Washington.

Seymour Music Heads Resign From Local Schools

Earl D. Prout director of choirs and James C. Patton director of bands resign from Seymour Community Schools. Prout will join Marion School action in choral music. Patton will lead bands at Madison Heights High School in Anderson. No replacements named by Superintendent Robert Bullett.

Car-Truck Collision Ties Up U S 50. Two Weekend Crashes

At Tipton and Beech streets a 9 02 a m crash between a 1957 car driven by William F. Beyer 70 of Fort Wayne and a westbound tractor trailer driven by Sidney J. Morris 43 of Crystal Lake Fla caused a fire hydrant to break and left Beyer cited for failure to yield. Damages totaled about 1100 and no injuries reported. Beyer pled guilty in Seymour city court and was fined 1 plus costs. A second crash at Indianapolis Avenue and Fourth Street caused $175 in damage with no injuries.
