Seymour Council OKs Sale of Airport Electrical Unit
The Seymour common council passed a concurrent resolution, after action by the Seymour Aviation Commission two weeks earlier, authorizing the sale of the Freeman Field power distribution system. The meeting also discussed completing a Shields Park confession stand, funding for the park building and city barn, and moving $30,818.20 from the general to the thoroughfare fund. The pool’s receipts through June 25 totaled 1,394.75 with prior figures bringing the season total to 6,166.25 and a paid attendance of 17,555. Plans to enlarge the pool could cost 30,000 or more, or 150,000 for a new facility. Airport manager Glen Manion noted purchasers must serve all tenants.

Free Swimming Lessons At Seymour Pool This Summer
Joe D. Gili manager of the Seymour municipal pool announced free swimming lessons for non-swimmers aged six to 14 at the local pool from July 9 to July 23. Enroll by calling 522 5599 with child name age and sex. Lessons run 10 a m Monday through Friday with 10 total sessions taught by lifeguards and qualified instructors. A brush up course for teachers will be held before classes begin.

Air Force sergeant kills three in Evansville shooting
Jimmy Ray Wilson, 29, an Air Force sergeant on leave, admitted killing his estranged wife Walda Stocky 27, her father Walter Stocky 49, and family friend Ronald Birkhead 29 at the Stocky home. The wife and child Cindy 7 were spared. Wilson fled to his parents’ home and was arrested.
