Exploratory drilling on the Luther Brown farm near the Jackson-Lawrence county line halted at 6806 feet after no oil was found. The Indiana Geology Department gains insights from the record drill, conducted by West Drilling Company for the Indiana Farm Bureau Co op since April 13. Leases on 10,000 acres were renewed for one year, with no immediate plans for new drilling.

Accident Victim Delays Treatment at Local Hospital
A Seymour man 36, Donald Ray, was treated at Schneck Memorial Hospital for a knee injury suffered Wednesday while working for a construction company. He was released after treatment. Emil Christopher 65, Wallonia, Ala, had the left hand second finger cut while hitching discing equipment to a tractor Thursday. He was treated and released.

Hit Run Driver Sought By Seymour Police
Seymour police hunt a light colored 1950 to 1951 Ford sedan after a property damage hit and run at Sixth and Chestnut. Maurice Green's 1955 sedan was damaged. an unidentified car fled north after striking Green. One man, Delmer Buescher, 36, was injured in a tractor incident nearby. Police recovered hub cap and chrome strip from the hit and run vehicle.

Taxi Operator's Death In White River Accident
A verdict of accidental death by drowning was returned for Joseph M. Stout a 47 year old taxi operator of Seymour. He fell from a small boat 300 yards south of Bell's Ford Bridge on Ind 258 into the White River as witnesses watched. The body was recovered after hours of river search by state conservation officers and volunteers. Funeral services are set at Voss Chapel with burial in Riverview Cemetery. He is survived by his widow, two step children, three brothers, two sisters, five step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Airliner Crashes In Flames North of Milan
A TWA four engine airliner with 59 passengers and a nine member crew crashed 15 miles north of Milan after taking off from Malpensa Airport toward Paris. Witnesses said lightning struck the jet at about 1500 feet during a thunderstorm as it rose, the wreckage burning in an open field near Marnate outside Busto Arsizio. Officials dispatched emergency crews and there were no survivors reported.
