Head On Crash Claims Life On U S 31
A Michigan man was killed in a head on collision on U S 31 two miles north of the Jackson Bartholomew county line. Alfred William Harrison 21 of Grand Rapids was a passenger in the fatal car. Joseph Harrison 24 of Cadillac Mich owned the vehicle. William C Shank 25 of Indianapolis Rio sustained cuts and bruises. A soldier riding with Shank Eric H Neilson Jr 19 of Chicago stationed at Fort Knox Ky was seriously injured with internal injuries. He was taken to Camp Atterbury hospital earlier and remained unconscious.

Richard Etter Receives Bronze Star for War Heroism
Former Indianapolis policeman Richard W. Etter earned the Bronze Star from Brig. Gen. John P. Henebry for key roles in Korea. As executive officer of the 61st Troop Carrier Group, he helped fly 296,960 airlift miles during the Hungnam evacuation and devised a system for major aircraft inspections. He previously served as materiel officer during the Berlin airlift and is now at McChord AFB, Washington.

Funeral Rites Set For Calvin Davis 91
Funeral rites for Calvin Davis 91 native of Reddington and former resident of this city will be held at 2 pm Wednesday at the Redding ton Christian Church with burial in Reddington Cemetery. He died Monday morning at his grandson Wilbur Chick Davis home in Terre Haute after living there 20 years. Survivors include his daughter Mrs Maude Davis of Terre Haute brother Ed Davis of Columbus and sister Mrs Rodie Barr of Columbus.

Drowning Toll Rises After Bass Lake Accident
Indiana reports a five death toll in 48 hours after a Bass Lake boating accident Monday night. Vernon Grubbs 38 of Francesville died saving his two year old daughter Julia Anne and Doris Ewart 13 who fell from a speedboat piloted by Mrs Sadie Ewart 40 of North Judson. Mrs Ewart turned off the engine and the boat ran over Grubbs and his daughter. The Ewart girl was rescued and Grubbs 14 son was aboard. Bodies recovered from twenty feet depth.
