Supreme Court expands ways to fund private schooling

The court upheld most of Ohio's 1975 law providing 88.8 million in state tax money for private schools over two years while setting guidelines to avoid advancing religious goals. Textbooks, supplements, academic tests, speech and psychological testing, and certain therapeutic aids may be funded if not advancing religious aims. Critics call the ruling an expansion of church-state separation concerns. The decision affects parochial pupils across Ohio and offers states new avenues to support private education.
