Local Taxi Operator Drowns In White River
Joseph M. Stout a 47 year old Seymour taxi company owner drowned in the White River near Bell's Ford while helping his wife and another driver load an outboard motor onto a boat. State conservation officers recovered his body at 6:15 am downstream from the accident site. Stout survived by his wife and two stepchildren with funeral services set for Saturday at Voss Chapel.

Tragic two vehicle crash near Henryville claims Adah Byrd
Mrs Adah Byrd 55 and her daughter Beverly Byrd 19 were involved in a head on collision with a semi trailer on U S 31 south of Henryville. Adah Byrd died instantly while Beverly Byrd was listed in critical condition with multiple injuries. The crash occurred as the car crossed the center line while approaching a narrow bridge. Beverly was treated at Clark County Memorial Hospital Jeffersonville and remained critical but showed some improvement after a night of rest. The truck driver George Washington Jones 45 Nashville Tenn sustained no injuries. The Byrd vehicle was a total loss. Burial arrangements were announced for Mrs Byrd with services at Burkholder Funeral Home.
