15 Minute Sale of Bonds Planned in Seymour
Seymour merchants will suspend all sales for a fifteen minute period at 12 noon next Wednesday July 1 to sell war savings stamps and bonds only. Local secretary William Topie will report the total to the Seymour Business Men's Association and to the national Retailers For Victory drive led by Morgenthau Federal goals. Indiana faces a shortfall of nearly seven million dollars toward its $14 876 200 quota requiring broad public participation and extra bond purchases before month’s end.

Former Seymour Resident John Ridlin Dies in Indianapolis
John Ridlin of Indianapolis, formerly of Seymour, died Wednesday night at 4924 North Capitol Avenue after a period of illness. Funeral services are set for Saturday in Indianapolis with burial at Crown Hill Cemetery. He was a former livery stable driver and is survived by his widow, a daughter LaVerne Ridlin, a brother and a sister, and was brother in law to Mrs Lena Lange and Henry Holman of Seymour.

Baby Serious After Possible Skull Fracture
Leland Smith, 21 months old, son of Mr and Mrs William Smith of 904 West Laurel Street, is in Schneck Memorial Hospital in a serious condition with a suspected skull fracture. War Department civilian protection course ends at Purdue
Arthur F. Becker, Seymour fire chief, among eight Indiana recipients, earned a certificate for completing the War Department civilian protection school at Purdue University. Band Program Is Announced For Community Concert

Firemen to Receive Arm Bands at Park Tonight
At Gaiser Park this evening an official presentation of civilian defense arm bands will be made to 33 Auxiliary Firemen of Seymour after the band concert. Richard S. Robertson of Brownstown, Jackson county civilian defense director, will present the bands. The auxiliary is the first defense unit in the county to complete training and state certification.

Blackout Exercise Underway Across Louisville Area
The Louisville metropolitan area including Clark and Floyd counties in Indiana went dark for a blackout drill. Maj. Citywide Rubber Collection Set to Begin Friday
The plan for a citywide used rubber drive is ready with nine trucks due out at 8:30 Friday morning. Eight trucks with Boy Scouts will visit air raid wardens and homes to collect and weigh the rubber. a ninth truck will man the downtown route collecting from business fronts. Residents may sell rubber at filling stations for a cent a pound or donate it for collection. Proprietors were asked to participate.
