Damages Sought in Trio of Jackson County Suits
Three damage and personal injury suits totaling 625000 are filed in Jackson County Circuit Court against L. P. Cavett Company of Seymour Indiana and Laurence C. Greathouse. Plaintiffs Glen H. Nierman Wayne H. Tormoehlen and Jackie P. Toppe seek damages for injuries from an August 10 1967 collision at U S 31A and Frontage Road four miles north of Seymour. The complaints allege Greathouse failed to yield right of way and drove left of center causing the crash and serious injuries.

The Rev. Fr. Peter Adelay of Indianapolis is named associate pastor of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, succeeding Fr. William Blackwell who now serves as pastor of St. Charles in Milan. Cargo Plane Crashes Into Busy Miami Killing Ten
A DC4 cargo plane with engine trouble crashed into a crowded Miami street, killing ten people. Four crew members and six on the ground died. about 12 were injured. The wreck damaged buildings, vehicles, pumps, and left a $1 million property loss estimate. Rescue crews searched rubble near Miami International Airport as the plane hit a medical center and other structures.

In Wegan area along County Road 125 East a lightning strike hit a silo near a hog barn early Monday killing about 240 of 452 hogs. Owners Glen Nierman and Joe Wayman estimated losses at 8000 dollars as remaining 212 hogs were dazed but salvageable with no silo or shelter damage observed.

Silo and hog barn owner reports total hog herd electrocuted
N & W Inc started in August, built silo and shelter. About 240 hogs averaging 125 pounds were electrocuted and died instantly. Some hogs were shocked while others died. Most were ready for market and could have shipped next week. Insurance covered the silo and building but not the livestock. The owner, Nierman, could not explain why only part of the herd died.

Teenager Injured In Mishap Here
A 16 year old Seymour motorist, Patrick M. Mackey of 516 Mill Street, was injured at 5 45 pm Monday in a one car accident on Indiana 11 south of Seymour. He was taken to Schneck Memorial Hospital for lacerations to the right forearm ear and leg after losing control on a curve and skidding across the road. The car suffered about 800 dollars in damage. No charges were filed. In a separate incident, Ronnie Bell 17, escaped serious injury when his car went off Indiana 135 into a ditch about 11 55 pm near County Road 225 north. He was treated and released at Schneck Memorial Hospital after being found dazed under the dash. The preliminary report indicates the car left the road and rolled into a shallow ditch with the front end in water.
