The Indiana Highway Commission lists 16 highways as limited access to curb roadside developments for federal aid. A new one mile section of U S 31 southeast of Seymour will replace narrow bridges and create a dual lane highway with three new bridges. Existing businesses remain unless relocation occurs.

Jackson county wheat growers plan to ballot in a wheat marketing quota referendum this Saturday at four locations. Four voting sites will operate 7 am to 5 pm CST, 8 am to 6 pm DST. William J Meyer 95 dies in White Creek community
William J Meyer 95 of Columbus R8 died at 3 this morning at his White Creek home after three years ill health and a three week serious spell. He was born June 26 1859 in Bartholomew County to Henry and Anna Meyer and married Elizabeth Toburen October 1 1885 who died in 1942. He leaves six children twelve grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren along with two sons and two daughters predeceased him. Funeral services Sunday at 2 pm from Tower and Burkholder Funeral Home and 2 30 pm at St John Lutheran Church White Creek. Burial at White Creek Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday afternoon.

Guard To Train On Small Arms At Camp Atterbury
The 111 officers and men of Seymour Company B 138th Tank Battalion Indiana National Guard will leave at 5 15 AM Saturday for Camp Atterbury for weekend small arms firing practice. They will arrive 6 30 AM and begin firing at 7 00 AM continuing until 7 00 PM Saturday and 7 00 AM to 3 00 PM Sunday before returning to Freeman Field bivouacking overnight. Weapons to be fired include pistols carbines and sub machine guns. The unit along with the battalion will train at Ft Knox Ky August 7 21 instead of Camp Grayling Mich for non armored guards units.

Driver Fined After Crash West of City
A crash on U S Road 50 west of Seymour Thursday afternoon led to Mrs. Bernardine Carawan of Cincinnati being fined $1 and costs in Seymour justice court for reckless driving after failing to slow and colliding with Wen dell Lee Herekamp of Seymour. Damages totaled about $150, including $50 to a grinding machine on Herekamp’s pickup. Herekamp was turning into Timperman’s Sales and Service. First Sgt. Eugene St. John investigated.
