Ex-Seymour Boy Drowns While On Trip
A Seymour couple’s 16-year-old grandson Jack Mellenkamp of Salina Kansas drowned Wednesday while on a student art trip at Ertes Park Colorado. He was born July 5 1945 in Dodge City and is survived by his parents Master Sergeant Leonard J and Lucille Mellenkamp of Salina and a sister Barbara eight. Remains will be brought to Seymour for funeral rites and burial.

Four vehicles were damaged in two Seymour accidents on Wednesday, with no injuries reported. A 1957 sedan driven by Judith Rainey and a 1951 truck driven by Karen Brown sustained damages totaling $310 and $10 respectively, while a 1949 sedan driven by Cecil Stewart and a 1957 station wagon driven by Benjamin Tiemeier were damaged for $100 and $125. N. V. Man Hurt By Lawnmower- Is Hospitalized
A 74-year-old North Vernon man, Robert H. Seely, underwent extensive surgery at Schneck Memorial Hospital after losing two fingers and another part of a finger in a lawnmower mishap at home. He was listed in good condition. Also treated as outpatient were Carolyn LaRue, eight, for a foot injury from a bicycle wheel and Mrs Roy C Barrett, 34, Austin, for a cut to the first finger of her left hand.

Hitch-Hiker Sought After Fatal Knife Wounding on Reddington Route
State police and county authorities hunted a young white male hitch-hiker described as about 25, 5'11", 150 pounds with light brown hair who slashed Willard Ross Newcomb and fled on U S 31 near the Texas Eastern housing project after a failed robbery attempt in the early hours. Newcomb, 28, of Louisville, received five knife wounds and was treated at Schneck Memorial Hospital. The assailant carried a small canvas bag and left after Newcomb refused money for bus fare. The attack occurred around 12:15 a m today.
