Troopers Robert N. Bush and Jack Means of the Seymour state police post and James Olmstead recovered Eugene R. Johnson 24 of Columbus from White River. Johnson drowned Monday afternoon while swimming with his nephew Roy Johnson 14. His body was found about a quarter mile downstream from the spot of the swim near a wire fence across a shallow river section. Johnson was a part time singer and guitarist who had lived in Columbus six years. He is survived by his mother Miss Lizzie Bright a sister Edna Johnson a brother Jesse and several half siblings.
