About 65 percent of Jackson County total taxes will be collected this year in the spring installment. Moose Lodge State Meet Opens at Indiana Exhibition
Delegates from Indiana's eighty Moose lodges with bands drum and bugle corps and Women of the Moose paraded in advance of the 24th annual state convention in Terre Haute Indiana. More than 3500 members attend with large delegations from Indianapolis and Bloomington planning for the 1948 convention. A class of 300 candidates was voted into the order last night with about 100 women inducted into the Auxiliary.

St Joseph County tops with 1 811 recipients at 42.82 dollars. Crawford County lows with 321 elderly served at average 42.82 dollars. In aid to dependent children the state average is 16.22 dollars to 18 482 recipients. Benton County leads with 36 youths at 22.77 dollars while Union County is lowest at 10.63 dollars to eight children.

The community band held its third concert Friday night at Shields Park to a large crowd. Next Friday at o o'clock the group will present another program and band practice is Tuesday at 7 30. Guest conductor Robert Egloff will lead as Paul W. Rigsbee attends an Indiana University clinic in Bloomington. Mr Egloff previously directed Greenwood schools and will direct Huntington Township High School next year.
