About 650 attendees filled the National Guard Armory at Freeman Field for Shields High School Alumni Association’s annual dance. Music by George Kollman and his band kept the floor busy from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. New officers named: Max Ernest president, Mrs. Richard Ahlbrand secretary, Miss Jane Sweazey treasurer. Outgoing officers will assist in roles. The four year $150 annual SHS scholarship was awarded to Thomas O Connor of Seymour Senior High School class of 1960.

An 11 year old Seymour Rhode Island boy was slightl y injured when his older brother accidentally shot him in the right leg with a .22 caliber firearm at their home near Seymour. He was treated at Schneck Memorial Hospital and released.
