Truck Overturns Injuring Seymour Driver at Airport Road Crossing
A Seymour man, Ronald M. Ruddick, 23, was injured when his 1967 van overturned at 7:08 a m on the Airport Road railroad crossing near West Tipton street after a dog ran into the path of the vehicle. He suffered a broken nose and facial lacerations and was treated at Schneck Memorial Hospital. Ruddick was later released and charged with driving while under the influence.

Five Arrested Near Seymour in Drinking Party Case
Indiana Conservation Officer Lyman Goben and State Police Troopers arrested five people, including three juveniles, at Tipton's Island near Cypress Lake north of Seymour after a report of a drinking party. Suspects include David J. Sanders 18 and Daniel W. Wentworth 21, plus three Seymour youths, with charges ranging from minor in possession of alcohol to contributing to delinquency and absence from military service. A 16 year old fled police but was caught after a 100 yard chase. All were jailed in Jackson County.

Rail defects blamed for Amtrak derailment at Greenwood
Penn Central officials cited defective rail metal in two spots as the cause of the Greenwood derailment. An Indianapolis woman and her daughter were slightly injured. Federal investigators identified a broken rail as likely. The track had been recently maintained, funds from federal programs focused on the Northeast corridor. This was the third Amtrak derailment on Penn Central lines in Indiana in under two months.

The church traces its origins to 1874 as a Wegan branch of St Pauls Church, with early efforts including building a worship house and parsonage.
