The operation targets the 1960 road program, with initial limited work this summer. Woman Injured When Cars Crash Near Crothersville
A woman and her small daughter were injured when a 1951 coach driven by Mary Baker and a 1954 station wagon driven by Lillian Sheffield collided on the Crothersville Retreat road at 9 40 a m. Sheffield suffered a possible knee fracture and was taken to Schneck Memorial Hospital, with later transfer planned to Indianapolis. The Baker vehicle left the road and the Sheffield wagon went off the opposite side. both were nearly total losses. Trooper Maurice L. Wright investigated.

City to Seek Bids On Piping For Culverts
Seymour board of public works and safety will receive sealed bids until 10 a.m. July 8 for gal v galvanized pipe to be used in culverts across Von Fange Ditch. The five by seven by 70 foot 12 gauge galvanized sectional plate pipe arch comes complete with erection bolts and instructions. Specifications are on file in the city clerk treasurer’s office for prospective bidders to study.

Charges Against Smith Dismissed in Jackson County
Frank Lewis Smith, 38, of Seymour, held on three counts in Jackson Circuit Court for robbery and assault on an elderly Rockford woman, was released after the court dismissed the affidavit. Prosecutor James F. Hillis cited lack of positive identification and investigation results, noting the victim could not ID Smith in a lineup. Smith had been extradited from Grayson, Kentucky, and previously underwent a lie detector test with favorable results.
