Connie Anderson Recovers After Open Heart Surgery

Connie Sue Anderson of Brownstown is on the road to a normal life after open heart surgery at Riley Children's Hospital Indianapolis. The 13 year old, who faced a 50-50 chance, is regaining strength and plans to begin the eighth grade in the fall.

Board Of Review Nears Halfway Mark In 1961 Session

The Jackson County board of review at the county courthouse has completed reviewing mortgage exemptions soldiers' exemptions and old age property tax exemptions filed by residents before the May deadline. No exemption totals will be available for several weeks as the data is tabulated. The board also reviewed new building assessments with few taxpayers proving to complain. The group will finish remaining equalization work this month and likely stay in session until July 6. Members are Stanley Switzer and William Forgey with officials Louis Schroer Rosa Lane Allman and Claude McCrary.

Brownstown youth injured in tractor mishap

A 17 year old Brownstown youth Arton Maxie suffered back and pelvis injuries when he fell from a tractor and a wheel passed over him. He was admitted Friday for X rays and spine evaluation at Schneck Memorial Hospital in Seymour in fair condition.

Bloodmobile to Visit Seymour and Jackson County Thursday

The Louisville Region Bloodmobile makes its final 1959-60 visit to Seymour and Jackson County on Thursday June 23 at American Legion Post No. 89 from 10 30 a m to 4 30 p m The quota is 110 pints but officials hope to collect 150 pints to meet local needs.

Minor collision on U S 50 east of Seymour

No one was injured in a two-vehicle rear end collision on U S 50 about six tenths of a mile west of the junction with U S 31 east of Seymour. Arthur Burns 39 of Cullman Alabama drove a 1955 model coach west and struck the rear of a 1953 model pickup driven by Vallee Bohall 28 of Seymour after trying to pass. Trooper J K Miller investigated.

Eisenhower denounces Red China over Quemoy shelling

President Eisenhower addressed a half million Chinese supporters in Taipei pledging US backing for Quemoy defense. In a private talk with Chiang Kai-shek, he condemned Peiping’s shelling as aggression and urged peaceful solutions while warning against weakness that invites war.

Seymour Man Loses Car In Stolen Vehicle Wreck

A 1959 four door Ford sedan stolen from Seymour was found in a ditch along Indi 58 near Spraytown and Freetown after striking a telephone pole. Juv enile suspects believed. no injuries reported. telephone service disrupted for about 2.5 hours.

Fire Department To Hold Pumping Classes

Seymour Fire Department sponsors two pump operation classes for volunteer firemen in Jackson County and Hayden. Classes run 7 to 9 p m Tuesday and Saturday at the fire station with instructor Bud Kline of the Columbus Fire Department guiding the program.
