A wage scale committee met at the city building to set pay rates for the five proposed lateral sewers in Seymour. The panel included Charles Lahrman from the state labor department Dustin Mc Donald of Bloomington representing labor and George Ernest representing Seymour. State law requires wage scales before bids, no remonstrances were filed, and the board confirmed the declaratory resolutions unanimously. The estimated cost for all five projects is 11000 dollars.

Prominent Seymour Citizen Edward Aiken Dies
Funeral services for Edward Aiken a 51 year old Seymour resident and former Ox Fibre Brush Co manager will be held Thursday at 2 PM from Voss Mortuary with Dr A A Cohn officiating. Burial in Riverview Cemetery. Aiken died Monday after a three week illness. He previously ran 28 clothing stores in the East and Midwest before 1930 becoming manager of a kitchen cabinet firm in Frankfort then Seymour’s Ox Fibre Brush Co manager. He was active in religious work and known citywide.

War Savings Bonds totaling 37909.50 were sold in Jackson County from June 1 to June 13, according to C. G. Steinwedel executive chairman of the county staff. The figure amounts to more than half the June quota of 67200 and authorities urge continued purchases to reach the month’s goal.
