Herman Hildebrandt of Chestnum Ridge is jailed on liquor law charges after a morning search of his farm by Sheriff J Otts Hays Deputy Meredith Stewart and local police uncovered seven gallons of mule wine and distilling apparatus buried on the grounds. Charges may be filed in circuit court with arraignment pending and a bond set for trial.

Woman badly hurt in collision near Peru Indiana
Mrs John Hutchins 85 of Rensselaer was in serious condition today from injuries in a highway collision near Peru Indiana. Carl Wagner and Victor Jose Jr Indianapolis manufacturers were less seriously hurt. Wagner's car and Hutchins' car collided at a crossroad. Hutchins suffered a fractured skull.
