City Accepts Bids On Police Cruiser Wrecking Building
The city accepted bids for a new police cruiser and demolition of the two story B and O freight house. Bids for the cruiser ranged from 1 195 to 1 450 with three Seymour firms bidding and a low bid from Brown Chevrolet Inc. The wrecking bid came from Cleveland Wrecking for 5200 with a second bid of 8500 from Pfaffenberger. Additional bids were opened for a chip spreader and a half ton pickup or station wagon under an 8000 street department appropriation.

She said the group slapped pockets and queried about afflictions while not taking anything. they left in a late model black sedan.

Death Toll Rises To Two In Gary Hotel Fire
In Gary Indiana the Commercial Hotel fire has claimed a second victim. Firemen uncovered a man’s body on a charred mattress fragment among the ruins. The deceased was believed to be among three men listed as missing Francisco Ortega James Montelone and M L Watts. James Ennis a longtime resident was also found dead after the blaze. Foster Gilliland surfaced later and said he had been inside when the fire started and escaped.
