Quarantine Set For Jackson County Dogs After Rabid Case
A 120 day quarantine on dogs and cats in Jackson county was ordered by Dr D J Cummings Brownstown health commissioner J W Green state veterinarian and L E Burney director of the State Division of Public Health after a rabid dog was found near Wallonia. The order requires owners to keep pets under direct control and leashed off premises. unrestrained animals may be killed by officers. The measure runs 30 days from publication unless extended by law and does not apply to recently vaccinated dogs known to authorities.

No One Injured in Tractor Auto Crash
No injuries reported in a crash on a county road 1.8 miles north of Cortland. George F. Terkhorn attempted to pass a tractor driven by Delbert Hoffmeier as Hoffmeier turned left into a field lane. Damages were about 200 dollars to the tractor and 75 dollars to the car. no citations issued.

Flames From Tanker Threaten To Reach Octane Gas Supply
Flames aboard the explosion damaged tanker Argus roared toward 18 000 gallons of high octane gasoline as 25 small blasts rocked the vessel. The 517 ton ship carried 22 000 gallons of diesel in the aft section and was towed away from Imperial Oil’s Vancouver refinery after crew were evacuated.

Funeral rites held for Medora man's cousin
John Harris 88, cousin of Commodore McClintock of Medora, died Saturday night at Stancombh Nursing Home Bedford after eight years there. Services were held at Elmwood Chapel Day and Carter Mortuary Bedford with Rev. E D Riggs officiating. Burial followed in Dixon Chapel Cemetery. Harris was the son of Samuel and Rebecca McClintock Harris and was never married. He is survived by a cousin as his closest relative.

Arrests and Warnings on U S 31 During Weekend Wolfpack
Twenty arrests and seventeen warnings were issued to drivers on U S road 31 in Johnson Bartholomew Jackson and Scott counties in the Seymour post area during wolfpack patrols Saturday and Sunday. No fatalities occurred on the 78 mile highway stretch from the Johnson Marion county line to Underwood. Four property damage accidents and two personal injury incidents occurred during the weekend under Sgt. Joseph D. O'Brien supervision.
