Resurfacing On State Roads Under Way In Seymour District
Indiana state highway crews in the Seymour sub-district advance summer resurfacing with State Road 135 and 203 completed in parts of Brownstown and Scott county. State Road 250 in southern Jackson county is being resurfaced four miles at a time while a new Grassy Creek bridge nears completion. Berm leveling on U S Road 31 near Sand Creek to Kriete bridge is done, and mowing along highways will resume to seed new grass for next year.

Three Escaped Reformatory Trio Recaptured in Illinois
Harold L. Terry 28 of Seymour and two other prisoners who fled Pendleton reformatory last Tuesday were captured by Illinois state police in Effingham Saturday. Several Hurt In Traffic Mishaps
Weekend accidents left several persons slightly injured. Dewitt Melson 65 of Chicago attempted to pass a truck on U S Road 31 near Catalpa Grove two miles north of Crothersville when he braked for an oncoming car and skidded into a ditch. He sustained a cut above the right eye. Cpl. Hubert E. Roush investigated for the Seymour post. Earlier Wayne Callaway 24 of Salem dozed while driving a 1941 model auto on State Road 135 near the Turmail residence and left the pavement reaching for his 13 month old daughter who was asleep on the seat. David Oden, 28, of 204 South Lynn Street, jailed in Brownstown after Saturday arrest by City Patrolman Donald Winn Jr and Detective Wayne Tolbert. Charged with assault and battery and assault with intent to murder after hammer attack on his wife Martha, 18, who was treated at Schneck Memorial Hospital with head bruises and no fracture. Funeral services for Dr Clowes will probably be held Thursday.

Violent Death Toll Reaches Twelve In Indiana Weekend
The Associated Press reports twelve deaths from various causes in Indiana over the weekend including five traffic accidents four drownings and one heat related death. A collision at U S 52 and Post Road killed one and injured five. Mrs Daily McCoy wife of Julietta Home superintendent died in a crash with Pfc Jack Dale Weiser of Fort Harrison. Weiser and four home residents were injured. State police logged 18 counties with 363 miles of highways free of fatal crashes while troopers logged 863 manhours across ten districts.
