Stolen 1948 Taxicab Recovered Under Bridge
A 1948 Public Cab taxi from Anderson was found under the Alternate U S Route 31 bridge over White River north of Seymour. Police say it was stolen about 1 a.m. in Anderson, sideswiped a fence, and hid beneath the bridge. Homer Phillips discovered the taxi and alerted authorities as state police pursued leads.

Parked Truck Hit by Train in Indianapolis
A Coca Cola Bottling Company truck was struck on its left side by a northbound Pennsylvania passenger train while parked by driver B J Robason on Indianapolis Avenue between Second and Third streets. Damage to the truck was $500 and many bottles and cases were broken. The train was delayed briefly as crews could not stop in time, and two autos rear ended nearby cars, causing about $55 in damage.

Funeral services for John I. Tomlinson Sr. were held at Sardinia Baptist Church with Rev. Gordon Weakly officiating. Burial followed at Garland Brook cemetery. Tomlinson, 91, died Friday night at his grandson’s home in Azalia after a brief illness. He was born June 23, 1856 in Scipio and married Susan Bell Mc Mann in 1677. Operators Quit Talks With Lewis To Await Changes
