Jackson county housewives may obtain canning sugar certificates up to the family limit as the rationing board distributes some 4 000 certificates. Registrations will be held in Seymour and other communities with help from the American Legion Auxiliary. Families with War Ration Books No 1 can apply at four public grade schools or the city council chamber Wednesday or Thursday from noon to 9 PM.

Edward Elsner Initiated into SAE at Indiana University
Edward Elsner, son of Mr and Mrs Edward P Elsner of this city, was initiated Sunday into Sigma Alpha Epsilon at Indiana University Bloomington and awarded the SAE key for high scholarship. Stolen 1940 Sedan Recovered on South Chestnut Street

Man Fined on Gaming Charge in Crothersville Raid
In Crothersville a raid on a rear room gaming house owned by Stephen A Rider led to Herman Wineinger of Vernon township pleading guilty to keeping a gaming house and paying $10 plus $10 costs. Robert Reed of Columbus pleaded guilty to operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, fined $10 and costs, with a 60 day license suspension.

Mrs. Allie Jeffers Dies at Ft Ritner
Mrs. Allie Jeffers died Saturday at her Ft Ritner home after a long illness chiefly heart disease. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 PM from Dixon Chapel. Burial in Dixon Chapel Cemetery. She was born November 1 1861 in Fort Ritner, married William Jeffers in 1877, and is survived by two daughters, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a brother and a sister, with many friends in Seymour.

Two Arraigned on Drunk Driving Charges
Two men arrested Friday night for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated were arraigned in Jackson Circuit Court. Carl V. Smith pleaded guilty, was fined 25 dollars plus costs, a 30 day sentence suspended, and his license suspended for one year. James Amos pleaded not guilty to a second offense with bond set at 500 dollars.
