Woman Assessed Ambulance Fee With Fine
Mrs. Jean Scott Manara of Toledo was fined $1 and costs totaling $11 for public intoxication. An ambulance fee of $2 was added to her fine after she was found intoxicated on South Cheaut street and taken to the hospital before being jailed. George Smith of Freetown also paid $11 after pleading guilty to public intoxication following Friday night arrest on St. Louis avenue.

Services Conducted For Norman Woman Myrtle Fish
Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon from the Liberty Christian Church for Mrs. Myrtle Fish of Norman who died at her home Tuesday. The Rev. Earl E. Petticord presided and burial was in the adjoining Liberty Church cemetery. Mrs. Fish, born August 5 1879, was married October 3 1903 to Ernest Fish. She was a native of Lawrence County and a member of Norman Christian Church. Survivors include her husband two sons Cecil of Bloomington and Ralph of Norman a daughter Mrs. Dorothy Almond of Clearspring two brothers Frank Sipes of Paoli and Walter Sipes of Bedford a sister Mrs Pearl Dorsett of Springville and two grandchildren. A daughter Mary Alice preceded her in death several years ago.

Twenty Truckmen Arrested In Check Near Seymour
About twenty truck drivers were arrested for trucking law violations during a five and a half hour inspection at the permanent pit scales on U S Road 31 southeast of Seymour. Rain halted the operation about 11 30 p.m. Those arrested were arraigned in the justice court. Officers were Harold E. Chambers Joseph L. Cisco Frank B. Gray Wayne Tolbert and Oliver Leighton.

Rapid Progress Made in County Corn Planting
After heavy rains cold weather and floods Jackson County farmers race to plant corn using night and day power equipment. Some farmers fear the fight is partly lost while others persist to cultivate land. Planting will be below last year but more than 80 percent may be planted if next week stays even. Seed dealers report demand for quick maturing hybrids and limited 90 day stock with more 100 day seed. Second Band Concert Draws Large Crowd at Shields Park

Wreckage Located On Mountain Top Near Leesburg
A Capital Airlines DC-4 bound from Chicago to Washington with 50 aboard was found wrecked on a Virginia mountain top northwest of Leesburg. Maintenance chief James Franklin reported the plane appeared exploded with wings embedded in the peak. Rescue teams faced rugged terrain as hours passed before reaching the scene. The disaster follows two similar crashes in late May and June involving C-54 aircraft, prompting grounding and inspections. Among the passengers were De Courtney Smith, David P. Godwin, a honeymooning couple Dr and Mrs A H Marko, and 17-year-old Margaret Kueppers.

Driver Escapes Injury In Wreck East of Seymour
William F. Clause escaped injury Friday night when his 1939 model coach skidded on wet pavement on U. S. Road 50 about six miles east of Seymour. A blown right rear tire may have caused the loss of control as he tried to accelerate, sending the car into a ditch and steep bank before tipping onto its side six feet east of the Everett Hill residence. Damage totaled about 300 dollars.
