Jail Escapee Sentenced To State Prison

A 39 year old escapee from a Tampa labor stockade was sentenced to two to 14 years in Indiana state prison for forgery in Jackson Circuit Court. Charles W. Coursey fled the Tampa stockade while serving 300 plus days for petit larceny and was fined $10 and costs.

British Cross Country Hiker Struck By Auto

Dr Barbara Moore, a 56 year old British cross country hiker, was struck from behind on U S 40 four miles west of BRAZIL Indiana. She was conscious and listed in satisfactory condition awaiting X ray results. The car was driven by Elizabeth M. Kline age 67 from Shamokin Pennsylvania who stopped immediately.

Crothersville R2 Man Injured In Crash Near Austin

Edwin Chastain a 19 year old Crothersville R2 resident was badly hurt when his 1956 convertible left the road at Peacock Corner crossed embankment and overturned. He suffered a broken right arm and fractured jaw and was listed in poor condition at Schneck Memorial Hospital after the 6 30 p m Sunday accident. The car was damaged about 550 dollars and deemed a total loss by deputy sheriff D R Redifer who investigated.
