Austin resident Marvis Mann won a 9025 verdict for personal injuries after a February crash near Mapleton Inn. Detroit defendant R P Reinhart sought 1400 from Mann while Mann asked 10000 in damages. two-day trial, verdict delivered about 7 PM.
James B. Cross of Brownstown petitioned for a drainage ditch across his land but the motion failed in circuit court. Judge James A. Cox sustained a remonstrance by local farmers and landowners, ruling signatures must be two thirds from residents of the affected Jackson county area, which was not met.
Kayi Klinck once aide to D C Stephenson received a sentence of one to three years in Indiana state prison and was fined 100 plus costs by Special Judge Thomas E Garvin. Motions for arrest of judgment and new trial were denied and the defense indicated an appeal to the state supreme court.

He never married and is survived by his father John Steltenpohl a half brother George Steltenpohl Mobley Missouri a half sister Miss Lillian Steltenpohl and a sister Mrs J Sunmerman Corinder Iowa.

Frank Conrad age seventy one died Tuesday at his North Madison home after months of declining health. An employee of the Pennsylvania Lines for forty years he leaves a son, two daughters, a brother Father C J Conrad of St Ambrose parish, and a sister Mary of Canton Ohio. Funeral services will be at St Patrick Catholic church North Madison at nine Friday morning with burial in North Madison.
C. E. Combs found his Beech street mattress and bedding in flames Tuesday evening. He extinguished the fire himself before the fire department arrived. Fire Chief Frank Colemeyer estimated damage at about $10 and said two neighborhood boys likely started the blaze as a prank. No charges filed as of this afternoon.

Indiana gears up for the 49th annual G A R encampment in Columbus June 18 to 21. More than 2 000 delegates and visitors are expected with 2 000 more for sessions and the parade. Other allied orders will meet there and join G A R functions. The first day covers receptions and registration with a Boys Band concert at Knightstown home for the encampment.

He traced child training from the Reformation to today, praising modern facilities and the public school system. The exercises featured a welcome, class prophecy, valedictory, class will, motto, and poem by members of the graduating class.
Lynn Craig of Scottsburg was elected Indiana Lions governor at the sixth annual state convention in Bedford. More than 500 delegates from 34 clubs attended as Seymour sent a delegation and officers from Brownstown and Michigan City were noted. The 1929 meeting will be in Bedford and new officers assume July 10 after the Des Moines convention.

In a long session ending at 3 15 a m the Republican Credentials Committee seating of Mississippi and Wisconsin contests neared completion. The Howard Delegation of twelve delegates with half a vote each, supportive of Hoover, was seated on the temporary roll. Henry A Huber of Wisconsin won the Wisconsin seat contested amid Lafollette ties. Florida Louisiana and Texas delegates were seated as favorable to the commerce secretary. The Porto Rican dispute saw Besosa and Domenech seated before rival Tous Soto and Valdes, as the sub committee studies the case continue.
