Residents See Lower Electric Bills in June

At a June summary hearing in Indianapolis the Indiana Public Service Commission approved rate changes for two Jackson County utilities. Rural Electric will cut rates by 5.5 cents per kWh, while Public Service Indiana lowers residential rates about 1.5 cents and raises commercial-industrial charges by 5.7 cents per 1,000 kWh. The PSC noted the reductions reflect higher wholesale fuel costs. Several other non generating utilities saw mixed changes. Central Indiana Gas Co. seeks about 3.7 million dollars in gas revenue increases.

City funds approve 155100 for West Second street project

Seymour approves an urban Federal funds plan totaling 517000 for the West Second street area near Community and Lasher Drives. The city share is about 155100, with 361900 from urban Federal funds. The agreement, signed by the board and Indiana Highway Commission, awaits final state approval and completion is targeted by August. A bake sale permit for June 27 in front of Paris Style was also granted.

Regional Health Planning Council Inc. prepares a five county public issue forum in Columbus at The Commons on Friday June 27 at 7 p m. Speakers include Senator Vance Hartke author of Medicredit and leaders from Blue Cross Blue Shield Health Insurance Association of America AFL-CIO and the Indiana Medical Society. Area Men Injured In Two Vehicle Mishap

Two area men were injured in a morning crash on U S 50 east of Jennings County Road 750 East. Melvin L. Smith and James S. Kidwell were taken to Jackson County Hospital. The 1969 truck collided with a semi trailer, sending Smiths vehicle into a 300 foot skid and rollover.
