Pool Receipts and Attendance Rise for City Park
Receipts for the first 13 days at Shields Park pool were up about 59 percent with attendance rising 43 percent. Councilman Arthur R. Jones cited a 16 percent higher per capita receipts due to this year’s increased admission. Since May 30, 7,345 have swum, an increase of 2,237 from last year. Total receipts reached 4,771.50, about 1,775 more than the same period in 1961.

Clarence Spall of Crothersville was arraigned in Seymour City Court on assault and battery and disturbing the peace. He pleaded guilty and was fined 10 dollars plus 17 dollars costs on the first charge and 1 dollar plus 17 dollars costs on the second. Judge Laupus imposed six month and 60 day suspended sentences. He was arrested Sunday near Crothersville by Trooper Paul Hedge and jailed locally. The charges were filed by his wife.

Burglars Hit Seymour Country Club Again
Seymour state police report two break ins at the Seymour Country Club late Monday night and Sunday night into Monday morning. A small amount of money was taken from two cigarette vending machines. the cash register was damaged but not opened. Entry was gained via locker room, with an exhaust fan removed on Sunday and a window pushed open Monday.

Three Convicts Escape Alcatraz Prison
AP reports three bank robber convicts fled Alcatraz Federal Prison in San Francisco Bay during the night. Acting Warden Arthur M. Dollison said the men used a driftwood raft and an improvised escape route from their cell block via a skylight, then into the grounds and water. The escapees were identified as John W. Anglin, 32, Clarence Anglin, 28, of Montgomery Alabama, and Ferris A. Morris, 5, of New Orleans.

Man Found In Parked Car Charged In Public Intoxication
Thurman Winburn age 57 of Seymour was charged with public intoxication after being found seated in a parked car along a road near the Jackson Jennings county line. Trooper T L Schlegelmilch filed the charge in North Vernon city court. The apprehension occurred about 4 pm Monday.
