Brooder House Fire Kills 300 Chicks on Local Farm

Jack Burton a Mitchell grocer and filling station owner was shot and killed when he resisted two bandits attempting a hold up at his store. The robbers escaped with cash from the register. Police have no trace of them. Burton was the father of Mrs. James Purkhiser, formerly of Seymour and now in North Vernon.
