Naval Officers Killed In One Car Crash Near North Vernon
A 22 year old Canon City Navy Ensign was killed and his companion Ensign John W White II of Pueblo Colorado was hospitalized after a one car crash on U S 50 west of North Vernon at 3 55 am Sunday The two were returning to Colorado after graduation from the Naval Academy at Annapolis Md Edmon L Hayhurst 23 was killed at the scene White suffered a severe scalp and ear laceration and was admitted to Schneck Memorial Hospital in fair condition Investigating officers said White fell asleep at the wheel and the car struck a cement culvert causing extensive injuries to Hayhurst and minor damage to the vehicle The death marked June s second fatality in the eight county Seymour post area and other weekend accidents in Crothersville and Medora left minor damage and injuries.

State Police Arrest Man Charged By Wife
A 37 year old Crothersville man Clarence Spall was arrested by Indiana state police on charges of disorderly conduct and assault and battery after an attack on his wife. He was taken into custody at 5 p m Sunday south of Crothersville by Trooper Paul Hedge. Mrs Spall pressed the charges and he was turned over to Seymour city police and held in jail pending arraignment in Seymour City Court.

Four Albuquerque men were fined 10 dollars and costs each and given 90 days at the Indiana state penal farm after pleading guilty to petit larceny in a Brownstown case involving a generator taken from Edith Hunsucker’s car.
