Thunderstorms lashed Seymour and Jackson County Tuesday afternoon and night dumping 1.52 inches of rain and hail marbles on North Chestnut street. A tree fell on U S 50 and a burning tree ignited near West Sixth street road. power lines were damaged by falling limbs. two families in Sand Creek area lost service briefly. The White River rose to 6.2 feet with no immediate flood threat. cooler, drier weather was forecast for the rest of the week.

Rites Held For Traffic Victims Near Lebanon
Funeral services were held for Mrs. Mary Dryden 68 and Mrs. Ruby B. Trapp 35 at North Vernon and for Mrs. Treva F. Robinson 55 at Kokomo. Isley Dixon 70 remained hospitalized in Lebanon after a U S 52 crash that killed three women en route to a Purdue Homemakers Conference. A Philadelphia native, Allan Rogers 19, drove the car that crossed the centerline in wet conditions.

Flood Crests Rise On Wabash Many Abandon Homes
Floods along the upper Wabash River forced hundreds from their homes as crests surged toward doorsteps. Crop losses exceed two million dollars with 20 percent of tomato plantings and many acres of corn washed out.
