Paine Webber Jackson Curtis of New York City offered one and five eighths percent with a 26.50 premium for a $380,000 Seymour Community Schools bond issue. City Securities Corp of Indianapolis bid one and three fourths percent with a 699.20 premium but lost. The board approved the New York firm after bids were opened Thursday night in the school administration building.

Not Guilty Verdict In Reckless Homicide Case
In Jackson Circuit Court at Brownstown the jury found Ivan Dean Singer 18 not guilty of reckless homicide after a 10 minute deliberation. The case stemmed from a September 23 1953 crash on State Road 135 near Wallonia that killed passenger John Woodrow Raby 17. The verdict discharged Singer.

Two Men Fined On Traffic Charges In Seymour Court

Farewell Sermon for Rev. George J. Sixt Marks 45-Year Ministry
The Rev. George J. Sixt, pastor of St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cortland for 11 and a half years, will deliver his farewell sermon and retire after a 45-year ministry. He previously served in Grove City Pennsylvania Eaton Ohio and Marion Indiana. He was ordained in June 1909 by Rev. Hugo Schmidt in Middletown Ohio where he was baptized and confirmed. The Cortland congregation celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1952 under his tenure.

Driver Fined After Refusing Truck Weight Check
Laverne Lawson, 26, Crown Point R4, was fined 178.75 in Seymour justice court after pleading guilty to disregarding a police officer not having a PSCI permit and reckless driving. Mack Hanner 72 Dies at Home in Freetown
Mack Hanner 72 died early this morning at his Freetown home after a year of ill health. Born April 4 1882 in Kurtz he was a son of the late Ruben and Minnie Black Hanner. Survived by widow Ethel Ac ton a retired carpenter and painter he worked for the Indiana state highway commission in two periods. A Mason Clearspring Lodge No 323 he left a wide circle of friends in western Jackson County. He also leaves a brother Gerry Hanner Terre Haute and sisters Mrs William McCrocklin Terre Haute and Mrs Laura Dirdorf Jasonville. two children preceded him in death. Funeral services are set for Sunday with arrangements to be announced later.
