Mrs Alice Zaring Named Ninth District American Legion Auxiliary President

Mrs. Alice Zaring of this city was named president of the Ninth District at a Bedford district meeting Sunday. She has served in many roles, chaired district rehabilitation projects for Marion Hospital, and is known for her auxiliary work. The event included endorsements for other officers and a joint Legion meeting with a child radio entertainer and a girls’ quartet.

Cheer Up TH Club Holds Regular Meet

The Surprise Cheer-up 4H Club met at the school house with nine members under Mrs. Bell. The president called the meeting to order. A skating party and a dinner table setting demonstration by Lillian Jolly were planned. Corrina Allman led group singing and refreshments followed. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday June 11 at the school house.

Wiener Roast Held By Tri Mu Class

Members of the Tri Mu Class of the Baptist Church gathered for a wiener roast at Mrs. Edith Maschino's home on East Tipton Street Monday evening. Devotions led by Mildred Dennells cited the Twenty third Psalm. Attendees included Mable Ward Lucille Stark Lois Carpenter Mildred Donnells Violet Ruddick Geneva Stabb Ora Story Wilma Bohnenkamp Ruth Donica Mildred Eddy Jewel Smith Virginia Ames and others with committees named for flowers visitation and attendance.

G H Schneider Family Holds Annual Reunion

Members of the G H Schneider family gathered Sunday June 8 at the Jackson County Fair Grounds near Brownstown for a basket dinner and afternoon entertainment. Louis Dieckmeyer was chosen president for the coming year with Ed Schneider as secretary treasurer. The 1948 reunion is planned for Shields Park in the city on the second Sunday in June.

Local Church Delegates Attend Convention in Evansville

The Indiana Branch Women’s Missionary Association and Women’s Society of World Service convene at Evansville’s St. James U.B. Church for three days. Activities include memorial, roundtable, and youth services with speakers Mrs. Leora Eagle and Mrs. Nellie Engle, led by Mrs. Nagel and others.

Dinner Bridal Shower Honors Miss Nieman

Miss Pauline Nieman, a popular bride elect, was honored at a dinner and bridal shower Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Vened a Dyer on Fast Third Street. Blue and gold decorations matched the chosen color scheme. Laura Reuter won the special prize.

Walther League Holds Monthly Meeting at Immanuel

Senior Walther League of Immanuel Lutheran Church met at Virgil Hallow home. Rev W A Mack led a study on Education My Church and Learning. Ruth Preuss, Tommy Trimpe, Art Tormoehlen and Charles Rebber joined. a 75th anniversary kneeling bench was purchased. Social and lunch followed.

The Busy Cooks 4H Club of the Girls' Club met Monday evening with Norma Fields presiding. Rosemary Bussell reported as secretary in Peggy Belding’s absence. Dorothy Gerth and Bussell demonstrated custard, which was served as refreshments to members Rosemary Bussell, Norma Fields, Dorothy Gerth, Bernadine Nichter, Joan and Mary Ann Riehl, Charlotte Stockelman, Delores Turpin, and Mary Alice Sallee.

Honest Abe 4H Club Holds Regular Meet

Honest Abe 4H Club held a regular meeting led by Norma Wilson with pledge recitation. Romanza Deaton filled in for the secretary, Frances Deaton read the program, and new member Martha Emily joined. The program included a flower arrangement talk and grooming talk, with record books distributed and group singing and games during recreation.

County H E Chorus Holds Meeting Monday

The County H E Chorus met Monday afternoon at the K of P Hall. They received an invitation to sing at Union Church Cortland on Sunday evening June 29. Mrs Rumph noted tickets remain for the bus trip to Purdue University summer convention on June 20 leaving at 4 pm. Donations from county H E Clubs go toward robes. appreciation extended to donors.
