County Man Fatally Hurt Struck by Car
Eli Fleener thirty one a World War II veteran living on Norman Road in western Jackson county was fatally injured early Sunday on U S Road 50 about six miles east of Bedford when struck by Everett Sargent of Bedford. He died about ten minutes after the accident.

Rites Held Today For Wallonia Resident Purdy
Funeral services for Zerah Manson Purdy age sixty five of Wallonia were held this afternoon at his home with Rev John A Phelps presiding. Burial followed in Wallonia Cemetery. Born February 14 1880 in Fowler Indiana he moved to Jackson County about twenty five years ago and ran a barber shop in Wallonia. He was a member of the Wallonia Christian Church and Modern Woodmen of America. Surviving are his wife Lina Hotchkiss, a brother Cecil Purdy of Kirklin and a sister Mrs Leonora Huffine of Indianapolis.

Rites Conducted For Miss Hettie Hamilton
Funeral services for Miss Hettie Hamilton eighty two were held at St Ambrose Catholic Church in Jackson County with the pastor presiding. Burial followed at St Ambrose Cemetery. She was born July 31 1862 in Browns town Rl and died after an eighteen month illness at a North Vernon nursing home. Surviving are one sister Miss Rebecca Hamilton of Madison and two nieces Miss Mary Hamilton of Indianapolis and Mrs Frances Martin west of Seymour on U S Highway 50.

City police found a twenty five cent slot machine on a vacant lot midway down an alley between Chestnut and Walnut and near St Louis avenue and Tipton street.
