Gas blast wreck claims Diamond Oil driver near Caney
The Dixie Flyer interurban car was burned after a Diamond Oil tank truck collided with it near Caney on Otisco Pike. Driver Edward J. Mears, 40, of New Albany, was killed, his truck split and exploded, while one interurban passenger suffered minor burns. Witnesses included undertaker Froman Coots and Interstate officials.

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Sarah E. Bowman age 80 at the Houston Christian church conducted by Rev. C. A. Frakes. Born October 25 1846 she died after a long illness at her Houston home. She had married Mormon Cross in 1865 and later William D. Bowman in 1893. Surviving children include Wm M and Chas C of Terre Haute James of Houston and Malenda M Thompson of Brownstown.

Harris a Pennsy ticket agent at Seymour will be transferred to Frankfort in about two weeks. Neal Sullivan, formerly of Columbus and two years at Indianapolis, will replace him in Seymour. Hollis Holzworth age 21 of Crothersville and his uncle Joe Fisher 59 of Sellersburg were sentenced by Judge Julian Sharpnack to six months on the state penal form for possession of liquor with fines of 100 dollars and costs each. Reformatory sentences of one to two years for transporting liquor were suspended. Fisher, after sentencing, asked to revisit the courtroom and thanked the court for clemency. They were arrested at Hope on May 23 after a tail light violation. 40 gallons of liquor and a whiskey barrel were found.
