After May drought conditions, Jackson County farms received 0.92 inch of rain Wednesday night boosting soil moisture. Through June 8, total rainfall reached 1.61 inches, with forecasts for a return to warm and dry weather from Saturday. Shock Fatal To Area Man
A 21 year old Scott County man Russell R Riley was electrocuted Wednesday moving a Citizen's Band radio antenna at his trailer home. Deputy Coroner Jay Steele said the antenna touched a power line causing instant death at 12 40 pm. Born November 29 1955 in Scott County he was the son of Allen and Charlotte Riley of Austin and survived by his widow Sheila Sparks a daughter Tonya and brother Lawrence Burial services are set for 2 pm Saturday at Buchanan Funeral Home Austin with Henry Cruez officiating. Friends may call after 7 30 pm tonight and from 9 to 10 am Friday at the Buchanan Funeral Home.
