Barker Brothers submitted 18 584 for county bridges in a large multi county project, well under its estimate. L P Cavett Company bid 174 915 10 for U S 50 resurfacing near Medora and Brownstown, below the estimate. Total Tuesday engineer estimate was 7 261 141 34 with bids totaling 6 020 024 95 before the state highway commission.

Two new tuberculosis cases were diagnosed at the June chest clinic sponsored by the Tuberculosis Association of Jackson County Inc. at 10242 South Chestnut Street. Brethauer Elected Legion Commander at Sey mour Post No 89
Clarence Brethauer was elected commander of Seymour American Legion Post No 89 for a second time defeating Fred Howard in the post elections. Ollie Goecker won first vice commander, with other officers elected including Alfred Kleimola as second vice commander and Robert Lucas as finance officer. American glider pilot Richard E. Schreder of ToledoOhio was released by East Germany after a forced landing over the Iron Curtain during an international glider event at Cologne.
