Bonnie Lee Stilwell five died when a tricycle was struck by a dump truck on Carter Boulevard. Driver Leota Stockdale, 30, said she did not see the child and the truck coasted at about 15 mph after a bump. The accident happened near the Drake home as neighbors recalled risky driveway coasting.

County to Repair Rockford Bridge After State Refund
Jackson county will repair the Rockford White River bridge and two others after receiving 45827.46 from a state cigarette tax refund. Work on the 640 foot Rockford bridge includes a new floor and tearing out existing layers. repairs to the New Ford and Mooneytown bridges are also planned. The project will cost about 2000 to 2500 and the bridge will close during work.

Rites Held for Father of Wallonia Woman
Funeral services were held at Little York for William L. Wilson a Washington county farmer. Burial was in Zoah Cemetery. Survived by four sons and five daughters, plus three sisters and 16 grandchildren. Wilson served as a church member and former Gibson Township trustee.

A parolee from a burglary sentence, Frankie White, escaped Washington County jail by bending bars to reach a wall opening used for meal delivery. Sheriff Orville Hamilton said White, held for removal to the state reformatory after another burglary arrest, was sought by southern Indiana authorities.
