Rites Set for Two Killed in Crash Near Seymour
Funeral services were announced for Mrs. Myrtle R. Speckner 53 Seymour R2 and Rodellin Paul Hostettler 16 Crothersville, killed in a near head on collision on U S Road 50 east of Seymour. Alpha Speckner 55 and Robin Lewallen 16 Crothersville were injured. Lewallen released Sunday. Speckner in good condition.

Rites Held For George Sommers
Funeral services were held at 2 PM from Brownstown Christian Church for George Henry Sommers Sr. 54 a longtime Brownstown resident and building contractor who also served as pastor of Sparksville Christian Church. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery. Sommers died Saturday at Schneck Memorial Hospital after three months illness born May 6 1899 son of Henry and Ann Morgan Sommers. He was married December 25.

Three Accidents In City Saturday Reported
Three accidents occurred in the city Saturday after a fatal crash on U S Route 50 near the city line. Fr. John Minta from St. Ambrose assisted at the scene as two deaths were confirmed and police noted injuries. Charles Bohan, 27, of Terra Alta West Virginia, pulled from a service station causing the collision with Fr. Minta’s car and resulting in modest vehicle damage.

In Brownstown Judge John M. Lewis presided as James Lucas faced a jury for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Jurors included William Tuelker Esther Lett Edna Stockover Joseph Sexton Marvin Hazelwood Johnnie McHargue Frobie Norman Dorothy Fill Rosa Allman Norman Rindahl Dale Zellner Preston Wright. Leonard Harris pleaded guilty to DUI and was fined fifty dollars with license suspension recommended. Charles Jackson and Charles Franklin Day also pleaded guilty to intoxication and petit larceny respectively with modest fines.

Mrs. Anna D. Sierp 87 lifelong Jackson county resident died at her daughter’s home 164 South Park Drive after a year and a half illness. Born March 3 1866 near Wallonia she married John Fred Sierp in 1887. Survivors include two daughters Alma Bobb and Lenora Tiemeier, seven grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Funeral from Tower and Burkholder and Immanuel Lutheran Church with burial in Lutheran Cemetery. Flowers omitted per family request.

A tornado struck the Wallace Brothers Shows in Brazil Indiana causing extensive damage estimated at 35 000 to 40 000. No injuries were reported though debris and a mangled ferris wheel littered the south edge of town after the brief twister moved toward Harmony three miles east. Roads blocked by downed trees and poles. In Terre Haute lightning killed 10 year old Shirley Owens. several other children unharmed on a neighbor’s porch.
