The Seymour region faces thunderstorm and shower‑heavy weather all weekend as the 20 team Seymour Invitational Slo‑Pitch Softball Tournament approaches. National Weather Service odds reach 70 percent tonight and 60 percent Saturday.
Detroit Free Press reports secret documents show President Nixon and Henry Kissinger received regular summaries of FBI spying on White House subordinates and supporters. The May 1969 to February 1971 memos detail wiretaps, leaks, and data on private habits and beliefs.
The White House filed a motion asking Judge Sirica to lift a protective order after a grand jury named Nixon among unindicted co conspirators in the Watergate cover up. The move comes as Jaworski presses for White House tapes and documents, with the Supreme Court soon hearing arguments on executive privilege.
Indiana high school seniors from Seymour Crothersville Brownstown and Medora will join 946 peers at the Hoosier Boys State program at Indiana State University Terre Haute. Delegates learn practical politics with two parties in university housing and daily assemblies led by Barney W. Breedlove and Bill Jackson. Governor Otis Bowen and others attend the Wednesday inauguration and Friday final review.
Some 70 doctors in the nine county Fourth Medical District of the Indiana Medical Society are expected to come to Seymour Wednesday for an all day district meeting. Dr. Jose Garcia Oller, president of the Council of Medical Staffs, of New Orleans, La., will speak at the 8 p.m. dinner at the Seymour Country Club. Golf and bridge for the visiting doctors and their wives are planned in the morning. A business meeting will follow in the afternoon with Dr. Kenneth Bobb of Seymour, district president, in charge.
Several thousand Republicans attended the Hoosier GOPower Dinner at the Indiana Convention Exposition Center in Indianapolis. Gov. Otis Bowen and Secretary Earl L. Butz urged unity, stressing GOP values amid Watergate concerns and inflation. Senator Richard Lugar and candidates Richard Alexander and Earl Landgrebe joined at the head table as party leaders praised Hoosier Republicans.
The South Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church retires the Rev. Thomas G. Scott of Evansville after 41 years in ministry and grants retirement status to eight other clergy. The session at Indiana University Auditorium in Bloomington ends after approving 29 ordinations and marking 45 years of service for one recipient.

Three county youths were arrested March 29 along Honeytown road north of Brownstown. Trials had been scheduled for today. Linda S. Hanner 24 Scottsburg faced first degree burglary with a $10 000 bond after a preliminary hearing at James A Elkins residence south of Seymour. Phillip Johnson unknown address received a preliminary hearing on vehicle theft and returned to jail on a $10 000 bond. Frank D. Sumpter 27 Brownstown pleaded guilty to deceptive practice passing a forged signature April 28 and was sentenced to four months at the Indiana state farm with five months probation for restitution of 25. He had been jailed prior to sentencing.
The Seymour Public Library and Crothersville branch launch the 1974 summer vacation reading program A Trip Through the Enchanted Forest. Children from first to sixth grade must read at least 10 books and report progress to advance through forest areas to the Mother Goose castle. A movie party awaits finishers.
William F. Blaisdell was installed as vice president of the American Heart Association Southeast Indiana Division at its sixth annual meeting held at The Pines with about 75 attendees from 26 counties. The division announced a $125,000 Heart Fund total for the year and $20,500 contributed to research, while nursing workshops and ROCOM multimedia learning for coronary unit nurses highlighted the program.
