New Judge Named In Fleetwood Case
Judge George B. Davis of Hancock Circuit Court will hear the first degree murder trial of David L. Fleetwood in Decatur Circuit Court at Greensburg. Davis was selected from a three judge panel after a defense motion for change of judge. he may decline and trigger a new selection. Fleetwood pleaded not guilty to the May 24 arraignment for the shooting death of James T. Blevins at Brownstown Central High School. Fleetwood was moved to Decatur County jail on May 10 after a venue change granted April 19 by Judge Robert R. Brown. The Jackson County prosecutor will present evidence. Jackson and Decatur County prosecutors will assist in jury selection. Fleetwood, a Brownstown Central senior, was indicted April 5 for first degree murder. Turn to Page 7, Col. 4.

Salaries For Deputies Fund Denied In Jackson County

Four-Vehicle Crash In Seymour Injures Two
Two persons were injured in a four-vehicle chain reaction on U.S. 50 at O'Brien street in Seymour. The crash involved a 1969 pickup driven by Donald L. Fleetwood and three other vehicles. Rohr and Thompson were treated for back and neck pain at Schneck Memorial Hospital. Lucas was cited for improper overtaking.

Storm Damages In Seymour. Power Failures Reported
A Tuesday thunderstorm dropped .30 inches of rain over Seymour causing wind damage and outages across the city. Public Service Indiana GM Wilbur Hancock cited outages on South O'Brien Street near the Amoco plant and Freeman Field areas along with U S 50. A blown fuse hit the Shepman Addition while trees blocked roads. Power was restored within an hour. Ruth Everhart noted the storm in her local weather observations.

Judgment Affirmed In School Bench Saw Injury Case
The Indiana Court of Appeals upheld a $95,000 damage verdict for Harvey E. Asher against Scott County School District No. 1. Indiana Youths Attend Fifth Annual Horse Camp
One hundred youths from Indiana including five from Jackson County attend the fifth annual Horse Camp at the Jackson County Fairgrounds and Camp Pyoca near Brownstown. The five county participants are Lisa Main Rhonda Williams Jeff Haag Carol Flynn and Ellen Olmstead. The camp runs Sunday to Saturday with horsemanship western pleasure and showmanship instruction plus classroom time swimming and sports. An instructor team will videotape each student to review saddle work, a new feature for the camp.

Bush Gets 10-Year Sentence For Armed Robbery
Steven Dale Bush, 22, formerly of Columbus, was sentenced to 10 years in jail for the felony while armed related to a September 1970 robbery at Dick's Sunoco on Ind. 46 west of Columbus. Attendant David Cowan was fatally shot. Bush faced a prior murder indictment.
