The Indiana State Highway Commission lists at least six Jackson County projects in the 1969 71 Statutory Construction Program. The two year plan totals 442 million dollars with federal and state funding allocations. bids for the Ind 258 White River bridge are set for June 24.

Navy ends search for 73 missing seamen after Evans collision
The U S Navy halted operations for 73 missing crew from the destroyer Evans after a pre dawn collision with the Australian carrier Melbourne off the Philippines. Authorities said all survivors were accounted for and a court of inquiry will be convened.

Salem Man Indicted In Fatal Shootings
Nelson L. Williams 23 of Salem was indicted by the Washington County grand jury on two counts of voluntary manslaughter. He is charged with fatally shooting his wife Charlene 19 and Harold D. Wilson 23 in the throat with a 12 gauge shotgun at his mobile home on May 15. A trial date will be set Thursday.

Seymour Man Seeks Indiana FOE State Presidency
Marvin W. Dyer of Seymour, a longtime FOE member and Seymour Senior High School faculty, is anticipated to win unopposed as Indiana state president at the three day state convention in Indianapolis June 12 14 at the Marott Hotel. Dyer has served as state vice president and trustee since 1963 and would be only the second Seymour resident to hold the post. he also led Seymour Aerie No 655 as president in 1960 61 and has been local treasurer for eight years. The convention opens June 12 with registration at 8 am and continues through June 14.
