Drowning at White River Sparksville Claims Salem Boy
Austin Sullivan seventeen of Salem drowned in White River near Reynolds bar southeast of Sparksville. His body was recovered about four hours later downstream from the site where he went under while wading in water chest deep. Authorities say he was accompanied by two youths who could swim while he could not. This is the third drowning at that spot, a popular swimming area for Salem and Washington county residents. Funeral details were not learned.

Daniel P. Morgan, 67, owner of the Morgan coal and feed exchange in Seymour, died at his home on U S Road 50 near Crane Hill after a five day illness. Funeral services are set for 2 PM Saturday at Voss Mortuary, with burial in Lutheran Cemetery. He lived in Jackson county all his life and was widely known among farmers and merchants. He was born June 9, 1874 in Tampico to William Butler Morgan and Rachel Marhanka Morgan and married Margarete Lange in 1896. she died in 1937.
