Cattlemen Referendum Planned In Indiana
Local cattle producers are urged to register from Monday through June 17 to vote in July on a national beef referendum. Registration is at the ASCS Brownstown office with ballots cast in July. Allan Grant of the AFBF urges eligible beef and dairy producers to register and vote, either in person or by mail, with a 30 cent per hundred deduction proposed to fund the plan. An informational meeting is set for Salem at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Washington County Extension office.

A Jonesville woman, Clara Middendorf aged 87, sustained a cut on the nose and a black eye after a rear end collision on U.S. 50 west of Seymour. Her husband Edwin Middendorf 80 drove the vehicle. another pickup was involved. Minor damage reported and no additional injuries.

Dedication Set for St Pauls Lutheran Church Addition

About 150 students near the Legislative Palace taunted First Lady Rosalynn Carter during her Quito stop. Stones, bricks and gasoline bombs were used to attack police barriers, tear gas dispersed the crowd, and two American reporters were struck. Carter later spoke at a news conference about U.S. policy on arms sales and the Kfir jet fighter, noting Ecuador already operates advanced planes and that she would raise the issue with President Carter.
