City Youth Receives Suspended Term In Richart Case

Truck Driver Robbed in Early Morning Strong-Arm Attack
A Warren Ohio truck driver, John Reese, was knocked unconscious and robbed of 48 dollars on Indiana 3 about one mile south of Vernon. The incident occurred around 4 30 a m as Reese investigated a tire issue. Sheriff Clyde Perkins and Det. First Sgt. Harry McMillin are leading the investigation into the strong-arm robbery.

Monroe Deputy Killed In Crash Near Bloomington
Monroe County Deputy Sheriff Owen Cosby aged 67 was killed in a head on collision with a 1958 car driven by Roger Sparks as Cosby turned into his driveway three miles west of Bloomington Indiana. Sparks suffered serious injuries and was taken to Bloomington hospital. Cosby formerly worked for Indiana Gas and Water and served as a part time deputy.

Butterfat Milestone Reached in Jackson County DHIA
May saw the Jackson County Dairy Herd Improvement Association record its first cow exceeding 100 pounds of butterfat. Annette a Brown Swiss from Brownstown R2 produced 102 pounds with 5.5 percent fat while daily milk averaged seven and a half gallons. Babette led in fluid milk with 2339 pounds in May at 3.4 percent fat. Overall May averages were 1000 pounds milk and 39 pounds butterfat per cow.

Martinsville Youth Sentenced for Grandmother’s Beating Death

In Madison Indiana a 35 year old Vevay milk truck driver Robert Park died after nodding yes that his wife Erma Jean Park shot him and Dorothy Scott a 30 year old woman friend. Mrs Park claimed amnesia and was held for questioning. Scott died from a gunshot in the Scott home near Vevay as three of her children watched nearby.
