Hearing Set for Fire Truck Funds in Brownstown Township
An additional appropriation of 15000 dollars to cover the cost of a fire truck and equipment for Brownstown township will be considered at a trustees and advisory board meeting at 7 PM on July 6. Edwin J. Hentchel 26 of Seymour was released on a 1000 dollar bond after being booked as a material witness in the Camp Atterbury procurement scandal. He is accused of taking a 500 dollar bribe from Henry Shapiro an Indianapolis jeweler who was also arrested and later released on 1500 dollars bond. Ongoing FBI inquiry notes Hentchel received about 1000 dollars and many valuable gifts. Shapiro and Hentchel followed charges against two Indianapolis men previously released on 3000 dollars bond. Hentchel, a former Camp Atterbury Post Exchanges purchasing agent, had recently bought the entire annual supply of watches and watch bands.
